Ulaanqab (Ulanqab) municipal government and UCloud, China’s leading cloud-computing service provider, signed a strategic cooperation agreement concerning big data, artificial intelligence and smart administration platforms on March 24.
Accelerating industrial transformation and upgrading modes of economic development, the Ulaanqab government has positioned cloud computing and big data as its leading industries. The cooperation agreement also promotes the construction of Grassland Cloud Valley, an ongoing Ulaanqab city strategy.
In October 2016, Inner Mongolia autonomous region was approved as a comprehensive experimental zone for the big data development. Ulaanqab, with support from regional policies, has successfully promoted its data industry, thanks in part to the environmental advantages it enjoys in climate and geological structure.
UCloud plans to invest 1.8 billion yuan ($287.7 million) in the construction of a 200,000-server data center in Chaha’er economic and technological development zone. The project is nearing launch and will be completed in early 2020. The center will sit next to Apple Inc’s North China Data Center.
Ulaanqab aims to construct soon a national-level demonstration cloud-computing base to serve the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic area and cities in North China.
The city aims to fully cooperate with UCloud in the future, continuously meeting the growing needs of information technology based on a sound investment environment, excellent service and convenient transportation.
