Direct train links Baotou with Chifeng

A new direct train is to be launched from North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on April 10, linking Baotou with Chifeng, two major cities in the autonomous region, according to northnews.cn.

The K896 train, leaving Baotou at 15:00, will arrive in Chifeng at 15:30, shortening the journey between the two cities to half an hour.

Located in the western part of Inner Mongolia, Baotou is the largest city in the autonomous region and an important transport hub. The city is recognized as China’s Capital of Rare Earths and a “City of Steel on Grassland”.

The launch of the direct train will provide further convenience for passengers traveling between the two cities and a boost to the regional economy.
