Southern Medical University Guangdong Government Outstanding International Students Scholarship for Freshmen

To attract and encourage more students to study in Southern Medical University and to give awards to excellent international students, we set up the freshman scholarship for international students.

Ⅰ. Scholarship Requirements

The self-funded applicants of all majors can apply Southern Medical University Guangdong Government Outstanding International Students Scholarship for Freshmen

II. Applicants and Award Amounts

    1. Doctoral Degree Freshman: 30,000 RMB per person for one-time reward.

    2. Master Degree Freshman: 20,000 RMB per person for one-time reward.

    3. Bachelor Degree Freshman: 10,000 RMB per person for one-time reward.

III. Application Requirements

1. Applicants should have a foreign citizenship, a valid passport and meet the relevant requirements for international students to study in China.

2. Age requirements:

 1）Doctoral Degree Candidate: under the age of 40.

2）Master Degree Candidate: under the age of 35.

3）Bachelor Degree Candidate: under the age of 30.

3. Applicants should respect Chinese Culture and abide by all Laws and regulations as applicable to International Students studying in China. Applicants should be in a proper physical and mental health condition and should be honest. He/ She should not have any Criminal Record in any country.

4. Applicants should have excellent academic credentials and be fully commit themselves to the program and should be fully motivated to study in Guangdong. The GPA of Master’s degree or doctoral degree candidates should be above 3.0 for the previous phase of study, without failure or retake in any courses. Bachelor’s degree candidates should score over 80 for all courses with no failure.

5. Language proficiency:

Bachelor’s Degree Program in Chinese Medium: photocopy of HSK certificate (within the validity period of 2 years) or other comparable certificates proving Chinese proficiency (a score of 180 or above of the new HSK Level 4);

Master’s /Doctoral Degree Program in Chinese Medium: photocopy of HSK certificate (within the validity period of 2 years) or other comparable certificates proving Chinese proficiency (a score of 180 or above of the new HSK Level 5). If the highest degree was gained in Chinese universities with Chinese medium, the certificate of Chinese medium shall be provided;

English Medium Program: applicants from non-English-speaking countries shall provide TOEFL or IELTS certificate (TOEFL 68 or above, IELTS 6 or above). If the highest degree was gained in English-speaking countries, the certificate of English medium shall be provided.

IV．Application Materials (All application materials must be in duplicate)

（1）Apply for Master’s / Doctoral Degree Programs :

1. All application materials required for Postgraduate International applicants. Please refer to Admission Guide for 2018 Postgraduate International Students (Visiting Scholars) of Southern Medical University ;

2.Application Form for Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship;

 3.Personal statement (content: if fail to get this scholarship, whether the applicant is willing to become self-funded student or not. Without this statement it’ll be regarded as agreed to become self-funded student).

（2）Apply for Bachelor’s Degree Programs :

1. All application materials required for Undergraduate International applicants. Please refer to Admission Guide for 2018 Clinical Medical Undergraduate International Students of Southern Medical University （English Medium）or Admission Guide for 2018 Postgraduate International Students(Visiting Scholars) of Southern Medical University ;

2.Application Form for Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship;

3.The headmaster and a teacher’s recommendation letter from graduated high school (with signature and contact of referee and official seal of the school);

4. Personal statement (content: if fail to get this scholarship, whether the applicant is willing to become self-funded student or not. Without this statement it’ll be regarded as agreed to become self-funded student).

V. Application deadline

Application documents should be sent to School of International Education of Southern Medical University before July15, 2018.

VI. Review and Admission

Our school will review all applications according to the standards of admission and scholarship qualifications.

★ The list of qualified candidates for Guangdong Government Outstanding International Students Scholarship for Freshmen will be submitted to the Department of Education of Guangdong Province. The final list is subject to the announcement by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province after their public displays.

★ The scholarship winners should pay all fees according to the charging standard of self-funded students of Southern Medical University (including registration fee, tuition and accommodation etc.). The award will be delivered once to the personal bank account of the winner after registration.
