Originally opened in 1938 as Luxun College of Art by such leaders as Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, and after a 1945 move to Northeast China, the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts officially opened in 1958.
After 80 years of development, Luxun Academy of Fine Arts is now a well-known art school with qualified teaching staff guiding students toward a diverse range of majors and a future of influence at home and abroad.
The academy has two campuses, in Shenyang and Dalian, with a combined area of 957,662 square meters. The 10,887-square-meter library has over 592,000 books and more than 3,000 archived cultural relics.
Shenyang campus currently offers 10 majors in traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, sculpture, photography, painting, film and television production, environmental design, apparel design, product design and fine arts.
Among the academy’s 64 professors, 142 associate professors, 235 lecturers and 106 teaching assistants, 13 are recipients of State Council-issued government grants.
Over its history, the academy has trained a large number of personnel, many of whom became art and design industry leaders, renowned artists and outstanding figures in their chosen professional fields.
