In recent years, Guiyang has spared no effort in developing its recycling industry and has pressed ahead with energy conservation measures and promoted more efficient use of resources. It has strengthened supervision on energy-saving projects and promotion of ecological conservation technologies.

The city has implemented a series of energy conservation and environmental protection projects including residual heat utilization, optimization of energy systems and cleaner manufacturing. The overall energy consumption of key enterprises and major products has decreased.

Environmental protection in the city has come a long way and there is now a collection of enterprises which make efficient use of resources, putting the city among the first wave of pilot cities to push for a circular economy. Three circular economy industrial bases are under construction and Kailin Group has been listed as one of the pilot enterprises.

Guiyang has expedited development of technologies and products that are energy-efficient and environmentally friendly and increased support for development of the mineral and remanufacturing industries.

Priority has been given to technologies involving treatment of waste gas, waste water and solid waste. The city encourages the development of enterprises which manufacture environmental monitoring equipment and endeavors to develop exhaust gas clean-up equipment and flue gas desulfurization technology in coal-fired power plants, a technology which helps treat urban sewage.

Guiyang has made great efforts to turn the energy conservation and environmental protection industries into serious economic drivers and actively promotes the construction of environmental protection facilities.
