Volunteer Service Month underway in Haizhu

The Guangzhou Volunteer Service Month was initiated at the Guangzhou Entrepreneurial Investment Town in Haizhu district on March 20.

The launch ceremony presented some important volunteer service programs taking place in Guangzhou's Haizhu district, including the Canton Fair volunteer service, voluntary food delivery to the elderly, a special plan dedicated to reading environment improvement for underprivileged teenagers, and the Guangdong Emergency Rescue Volunteers Training Base.

A new series of activities named "All citizens draw the map for volunteer service" was also launched on site - a number of WeChat accounts and Sina Weibo accounts for government organizations in Haizhu district called for short videos covering volunteer activities in order to encourage more citizens to volunteer in Guangzhou city.

At present, Haizhu district has as many as 76,000 registered volunteers and more than 3,000 volunteer service teams.
