As an island city in Southeast China's Fujian province, Pingtan abounds in seafood such as shrimps, crabs and oysters, which are commonly used as ingredients in local cuisine and snacks. The following are five renowned snacks in the city:

Tian Chang Di Jiu, 天长地久

Tian chang di jiu, also called you geng, is a fried dumpling-shaped dessert in Pingtan. It is made of sweet potato flour as skin and usually filled with sweet red bean paste or sugar. Tian chang di jiu, in Chinese, stands for everlasting happiness, so it has become a must-eat dish at local wedding ceremonies.
