Heilongjiang University was founded in Yan’an in 1941 and was eventually moved to Harbin in 1946.
Heilongjiang University ranks in the top 100 institutes of higher education in China. The university’s 22 schools include philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, psychology, engineering, agriculture, management and art. Within these departments there are 81 programs offered at the undergraduate level, and 153 programs at the postgraduate level, including 54 at doctoral level. The university sits on a 1,910,000-square-meter campus, of which 1,150,000 sq m is built on, with a library containing over 4,000,000 books. The campus has ample facilities to support the more than 30,000 students who enjoy access to areas such as the advanced experimental building, education building, library, fitness center, swimming pool, and dining halls.
Since 1980, the school has recruited international undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as exchange and part-time students from all over the world. The school has also setup various scholarships for students who have studied at the school for at least one year. Heilongjiang University’s International Institute of Education and Culture is in charge of organizing and taking care of its international students. The school has an advanced administrative system, excellent facilities, and teaching staff comprised of both full and part time staff with a wealth of experience. The school has also started independently accepting international students for bachelor’s and master’s programs that have implemented the credit system.
Heilongjiang University currently has 35,000 full-time undergraduate, 5,000 full-time graduate, and around 2,000 international students.
