Through a method of slow fermentation, the multi-layer oil cake tastes soft and sweet. It has a translucent lotus color and is shaped like a diamond. Between the 64 layers are oil and sugar, creating a succulent and unctuous taste. It is considered as one of the traditional Yangzhou pastries.
