Founded in 1941, Guizhou Normal University (GZNU) is among those included in the Program of Partner Assistance with Western Universities by the Ministry of Education and now specializes in the education of teachers.

The School of International Education (SIE), the university's newest school established in 2014, has 20 staff members and 400 undergraduates. SIE focuses mainly on Higher National Diploma (HND) projects, offering students the opportunity to receive high-quality education in courses alongside British counterparts, most of them being high school graduates or those with equal schooling (including secondary vocational school graduates).

All of the courses are taught by teachers who have lived overseas and are supplemented by foreign teachers for bilingual lessons. The teaching program is overseen by British schools, which monitor the teaching quality and provide original British teaching materials. After completing their studies, graduates can obtain work permits for foreign companies or receive further education at foreign universities.
