Shenzhen will open a new border checkpoint, Liantang Border Checkpoint, by the end of 2018, according to reports from local media outlet sznews.com.
The new border checkpoint is the seventh of its kind in Shenzhen and is a comprehensive land border inspection point for both people and goods travelling between regions such as Hong Kong, east Shenzhen, Huizhou and southern parts of Jiangxi and Hainan provinces.
The project, which cost over 1.4 billion yuan ($220 million), began construction in 2013 and is designed to serve 30,000 travellers per day and nearly 18, 000 vehicles.
