Health Service industry

An improved health service industry is the priority of the sector in Yangzhou. Regarding health and hygiene, the city has 1,787 medical and health institutions in total.

In accordance with the standards of building the "10 minutes fitness circle", the city's four-grade fitness facilities have achieved full coverage with regards to physical fitness. In the area of health management services, the archiving rate of urban and rural residents’ electronic health records has reached 85.5 percent, all community health centers have established the family doctor system. 

To provide healthy living services, the Huaiyang cuisine is rich in cooking techniques and healthy elements; for foot massage skills, the "Bath Industry Operating and Technical Specifications" issued by the Ministry of Commerce has taken reference from "Yangzhou Bath Service Standards" – the first bath industry standard in China and has been carried out across the country; as for hairdressing and beauty treatment, in addition to the city's more than 2,000 beauty salons of different scales, there are also time-honored brands such as "Xie Fuchun" and Perfect Cosmetic, as well as 69 large-scale enterprises specialized in cosmetic products. 

Concerning health and leisure tourism, there are leisure and tourism destinations such as Shugang-Slender West Lake Resort, Phoenix Island Eco Resort, Guazhou Ancient Town International Tourist Resort, and Ancient City Leisure Tourism Area. With regards to supporting health service industries, the industrial output value of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, healthy food and cosmetics industries has exceeded 10 billion yuan, of which the production of medical equipment accounts for 25 percent of the nation's market share while the healthy food and cosmetics industry accounts for approximately 17 percent of that of Jiangsu province.

On the basis of earnestly implementing national and provincial policies for developing the health service industry, the city has introduced "Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Health and Pension Services Industry" (YFF(2016)17), "Municipal Government Opinions on Encouraging Private Capitals to Invest in the Construction and Operation of Health and Pension Service Industry ", and "Municipal Government Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Sports Industry", forming a relatively complete policy system of health service industry.
