Longping Hi-Tech Park

National Longping Hi-Tech Park is located in the east of Furong District of Changsha and it is formerly Mapoling Agricultural Hi-Tech Park approved by the State Science Commission in 1997. The Park extends from Changsha County in the east to Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway to the west, facing Liuyanghe River to the south and Changsha Economic & Technological Development Zone to the north and total planned area of the Park is 18 square kilometers.

The Park is named after Yuan Longping, father of hybrid rice and academician of China Engineering Academy and the brand advantage is quite obvious. The Park enjoys all preferential policies of national development zones and flexible regional policies. The Park is located in Furong District of Changsha, about 5 km from Changsha Railway Station, 10 km from Huanghua International Airport and 15 km from Changsha New Port. It is adjacent to Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, National Highways G107 and G319, with convenient traffic and location advantages. There are more than 30 scientific institutions in the Park, including Hunan Agricultural University and Hunan Agricultural Science Institution and scientific talents and achievements are collected here.

At the end of 2003, Hunan Provincial Government authorized Furong District to lead the construction and in the following four years, the Park has been developing rapidly. Infrastructure has been improving continuously. The Park has accumulatively invested over Rmb 3 billion into infrastructure and water, electricity, traffic, telecommunication, network, school, hospital and waste water treatment are now available in the Park and completed area has reached 2 square kilometers. Scope of the Park is also expanding continuously.

As of end of 2007, among the 153 companies in the Park, 47 being hi-tech companies, 58 being designed size enterprises, 3 being Fortune 500 companies and 3 being Ten Benchmark Engineering Companies of Changsha. 3 companies have annual output value of over Rmb 1 billion and 14 companies over Rmb 100 million. In general, four advantage industries are formed here, being modern agricultural industry represented by Longping Hi-Tech, Hunan Tea Leaves Company; electronic information industry represented by National Digital TV Industrialization Base Project; biotechnology industry represented by Jynda Bioengineering and Agribrands Purina and new materials industry represented by Kingle Group, Rare Earth New Materials and Zhensheng Group.
