Shenhai (Shenyang-Haikou) and Lanhai (Lanzhou-Haikou) national highways extend through Zhanjiang and connect to provincial highways and county roads, thus forming a convenient road transport network.
The Overseas Chinese Town - a state-owned tourism, culture and real estate enterprise - plans to invest 100 billion yuan ($15.17 billion) to build a first-class highway circling the coast of the Leizhou Peninsula, where the city is located.
At a cost of 3.5 billion yuan, an important section of the Yunfu-Zhanjiang Expressway will run across Zhanjiang and open a new exit to the east. The road will be about 67 kilometers long, and take the city's total highway length to 305 kilometers.
