In recent years, the government of Lushunkou district in Dalian city, Liaoning province, has fully utilized the internet to promote the development of the modern agricultural industry and the economy in rural areas.
An online network has been established to connect production information, agricultural products and production units, such as farms, cooperatives and companies. The network forms the agricultural internet economy and broadens the sales channels of agricultural products.
At present, there are more than 280 online shops specializing in agricultural products and more than 20 rural e-commerce service centers in the district.
The transformation of more than 20 agricultural markets has been completed, providing enough collection and distribution areas for e-commerce competitors.
Lushunkou is also cooperating with several express companies, such as SF Express, to build a specialized distribution system for local agricultural products.
By the end of 2017, Lushunkou’s online sales of agricultural products reached 125,000 tons, earning revenues of 1.5 billion yuan ($236.85 million), accounting for 35 percent of the total output of agricultural products in the district.
This year, Lushunkou will strengthen internet skills training for local famers and establish partnerships with more e-commerce platforms.
