Ordos tourist route receives award

A tourist route in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, secured a silver medal at the 2017 Annual Voting for China Road Trip Route held in Shanghai, on March 6.

The voting was initiated by iDriver Media, a media organization offering car-related cultural services, in partnership with a further 36 leading companies offering self-driving tour services, with the aim of selecting 36 extraordinary road trip routes for tourists every year.

Since the first vote was held in 2012, a total of 180 routes have stood out among all recommendations at the voting conference. The vote itself has also become one of the most influential and authoritative of its kind.

The scenic routes that have been picked out cover almost all of the country, exerting influence on tourists taking road trips in China.

At the conference, the route named “journey through secret area” recommended by the Ordos authorities was named and recognized for its fantastic scenery as well as its abundant cultural resources.

The route starts from Ordos International Airport and ends at Wanjiahui Paradise, a comprehensive entertainment park in Dongsheng district. It includes most of the major scenic sites in Ordos, such as the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan and Whistling Dune Bay, the two national 5A-level scenic sites.

In recent years, the Ordos authorities have paid more attention to the development and innovation of tourism products and travel routes. In partnership with tourism companies, it has developed various road trip routes, attracting an increasing number of tourists.
