Yuncheng has recently released a plan to invest 3.7 billion yuan ($586.81 million) in building a fruit export platform.
The fruit export platform will build Yuncheng and Linfen cities into important domestic fruit production and export bases and develop Yuncheng into a vital international fruit trade platform in China.
Also, the platform will help improve the inspection and quarantine system for farm produce exports and the professional comprehensive service system, in order to vertically integrate businesses in the fruit industry.
"We aim to export 500,000 tons of fruit from Yuncheng and Linfen cities through the platform by 2020, and 1 million tons by 2025," said the director of the fruit industry workstation under Shanxi Agriculture Department.
"The orchards involved in standardized production will also account for 50 percent of the total area of local orchards, with the orchards registering at the export platform covering some 66,666 hectares," the director added.
To reach the goal, Shanxi will next set up a series of fruit outlets for Yuncheng and Linfen in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Northeast China. Fruit outlets targeting overseas businesspeople will be established in frontier port cities such as Tianjin, Qingdao, Horgos, Manzhouli and Heihe.
