Taikonaut Wang Yaping was among the first of the 10 deputies invited to be interviewed in the "deputies'passage" of the first session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), which opened on Monday.
Wang Yaping, who born in Yantai, East China's Shandong province, was selected for the Shenzhou-10 mission, China's first application-oriented spaceflight, in 2013.
On her journey in space, Wang delivered China’s first space lecture about basic physics principles to over 300 schoolchildren on earth.
She said giving a televised science lesson from space to Chinese students in 2013 was an unforgettable moment. Not only had she fulfilled her dream, but she also inspired many.
"After I came back from my mission, I received letters from many children who said they wished to become astronauts as well. It made me feel proud and happy," she said.
"I hope that I can do my best to devote myself to our country’s manned space program and science popularization education."
The "deputies'passage" and "ministers' passage" were launched in the Great Hall of the People for the first time where reporters were given more opportunities to interview the National People's Congress deputies and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
