Xiamen Airlines will soon offer a pilot tag-through service for transferring passengers, according to a recent announcement by China's General Administration of Customs.

The service can directly send passengers' baggage from their places of departure to the final destination, offering a hassle-free journey to passengers transiting airports.

The head of Xiamen Airlines confirmed that the tag-through service is expected to be available in the first half of the year. It is anticipated that it will take only 60 minutes for passengers to transfer aircraft and 45 minutes to transfer on an urgent basis.

The tag-through service will only be available in China's large scale airports, such as Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

The reason why China's top customs agency approved the service for Xiamen Airlines is that the coastal city became China's third major pivot to Australia and its fourth major pivot to Southeast Asia and North America in 2017.

The tag-through service can help relieve the company's pressure in assuring timely transfer and expand its related business to further improve its level of internationalization.
