Guo Yonghang, 53, has been designated as Secretary of the Zhuhai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and as a Standing Committee member.
Guo, a male ethnic Han, was born in Jiyang, Shandong Province in October 1965. He joined the CPC in June 1986 and entered the workforce in July 1989. The new Zhuhai Party chief has an in-service postgraduate degree in administrative management from Wuhan University and a doctorate in management.
Deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee from March 2002 to April 2006, Guo also was deputy secretary-general of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee from August 2009 to June 2010.
In May 2015, Guo, who was then Party chief of Yantian District, was promoted to secretary-general of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Standing Committee member. He served in those positions until last month.
