Yantai, an international port city of East China's Shandong province, is making efforts to cultivate the spirit of craftsmanship to boost its manufacturing industries through innovation and the making of high quality products.
The city is planning to cultivate 100,000 craftsmen covering different industrial fields and to award 10 "Yantai Craftsmen" before May 1. It also will host the 6th employee vocational skills competition to promote works in 80 fields through competitions in professional techniques.
Yantai will roll out a three-year-plan to accelerate the Yantai craftsmanship incubation project. Ten craftsman incubator bases are set to be built in vocational colleges and universities.
Large-scale enterprises are to establish a total of 1,000 craftsmen workshops to cultivate 100,000 artisans in different industrial fields. Ten outstanding individuals will be awarded on May 1 and some excellent craftsmen will be sent to advanced countries for further training.
Yantai aims to be a city of advanced manufacturing clusters. The craftsmanship spirit of striving for the best will contributes to the city's commercial culture and brilliant achievements, and lay a foundation for updating manufacturing sector.
