The recently opened East Concourse at Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport now handles ten airlines, balancing out traffic flow and allowing maximum annual passenger volume of 12 million.

As of March 1, Sichuan, Chengdu, Zhejiang Loong, and Longjiang airlines began using the East Concourse. They joined Air China, Shenzhen, Kunming, Shandong, Donghai, and China Express airlines, which have relocated there from the West Concourse since Feb 9.

Boarding passes denote correct boarding gate or security check point as B for east and A for west. For instance, A07 means Gate 7 in the West Concourse while B16 refers to Gate 16 in the East Concourse. Airport personnel are available to answer questions.

Smooth operation during the hectic Feb 15-21 Spring Festival holiday period demonstrated improved capacity to accommodate passengers. Security and service capabilities had also been refined in response to the high number of passengers.

As of Feb 27, the airport accommodated more than 860,000 fares -- an increase of 23 percent over last year. Statistics also indicate a steady increase of passenger traffic in the future.

Zhuhai was the country's largest airport when it opened in June 1995. It has an airside concourse on each wing of its U-shaped terminal, but the east one had never been used.

Increasing traffic led to the opening of the East Concourse, and more than 90 million yuan ($14.3 million) was spent renovating it.
