Shenyang in Northeast China’s Liaoning province has restarted construction of 18 drainage and waterproofing projects following the Spring Festival holiday, in an effort to tackle the city’s problems with flooding, according to information from Shenyang Water Group on Feb 25.
The 18 projects, part of the 98 municipal engineering projects that will be constructed over a three-year period starting in 2017, will be completed by June 30, 2018, said Wang Yi, deputy general manager of Shenyang Water Group.
The projects under construction include building storage ponds, and transforming and expanding old drainage pipelines.
Currently, the first storage pond in Shenyang –– Wanghua Storage Pond with a water capacity of 10,000 cubic meters, is being built. Another five storage ponds are also planned.
