Sanya, the coastal city located on the south tip of Hainan Island, plans to set up international outpatient departments in its level-three general hospitals and traditional Chinese medicine hospitals in the next three years to provide better health care service for international tourists, according to a medical sector plan announced on Feb 28, Hainan Daily reported.
The city will open international outpatient departments in three hospitals, the Third People's Hospital of Hainan Province, Sanya People's Hospital and Sanya Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. A medical service system that is geared to international standards will take initial shape within three years with efforts made to install standardized bilingual signs, cultivate service providers and improve language skills while setting reasonable prices, according to the plan.
Sanya will also carry out cooperation with domestic top hospitals and medical institutes to improve its medical service, aiming to gain JCI international accreditation. JOINT COMMISSION INTERNATIONAL is an organization working to improve patient safety and quality of health care for the international community within three to five years.
More high-quality medical resources will be introduced to the city, and international medical talents will be welcomed to lecture and practice medicine in Sanya.
Sanya, with its abundant offshore tourism resources and tropical scenery, is a popular resort for international beach-goers. Last year, the city received 692,798 international tourists with a year-on-year growth of 54.3 percent.
