The annual lantern show of Xiamen's ancient Meishan Temple is set to take place on March 2 in celebration of China's traditional Lantern Festival.
3,000 hand-made lanterns of different shapes will be on display. It took more than half a year for the temple's monks and volunteers to draw pictures on the lanterns.
The picture of each lantern has special meanings, including praying for safety, good luck, a long life and expressing gratitude.
These lanterns will be lit up from 6 pm to 10 pm every single day until March 7.
A Han Chinese Clothing-themed parade will also be organized at the temple and visitors are encouraged to come to the temple in Chinese costumes so as to be a part of the parade.
Besides, some 30,000 bowls of glutinous rice balls, a must-eat snack for the festival, prepared by the temple's volunteers are provided for visitors free of charge.
