Boao Evergrande International Hospital, the first hospital in China affiliated with Boston-based Brigham and Women's Hospital, announced its official opening on Feb 28 in Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone in Qionghai, Hainan province.
An opening ceremony was also held on the same day for the Boao Public Bonded Warehouse in the zone.
"The opening of the Evergrande hospital and the warehouse will bring to China the world's latest medical technologies, creative new medicines and service concepts. Chinese patients will be able to receive advanced international medical services that are of the same level as those of overseas areas," said He Pengfei, a senior official of the Qionghai municipal government and deputy director of the Boao pilot zone administration.

The hospital will focus on cancer treatment and prevention and will leverage the zone's unique policies to bring advanced tumor treatment therapy, equipment, technologies, and talents to China, according to Xia Haijun, vice chairman and president of Evergrande Group.
"Patients will be seen by a multidisciplinary team of doctors who will work together to find the best treatment alternatives. This team will also work closely with colleagues in the US," he said at the opening ceremony.
