Baotou city welcomed 516,500 tourists during the Spring Festival holiday (Feb 15 to 21), setting a record year-on-year growth of 20.28 percent, according to Baotou Daily.
The total revenue from tourism during the holiday hit 270.61 million yuan ($42.71 million), a year-on-year growth of 25.6 percent.
The largest city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region introduced new winter tourism options to spur the industry, including ice and snow festivals, ice sports and agritourism options like picking strawberries.
