Hohhot handled over 200m parcels in 2017

Over 202 million parcels were delivered in Hohhot last year, generating 1.59 billion yuan ($251 million) in revenue, according to the local municipal government.

The government said the city has made great efforts to extend its courier network, and to improve systems and services over the past year.

By the end of 2017, 385 express delivery outlets had been established, covering both urban and rural areas.

The growth of delivery services has created a significant number of jobs, with 11,668 people now employed in the sector.

According to statistics, express delivery firms installed 703 intelligent express boxes in 649 communities, hospitals and other public areas throughout the city. In addition, five Hohhot counties have built distribution centers to help improve the region’s express services.
