US chemical company opens digital marketplace center in Shanghai

US-based Dow Chemical Company, a global leader in specialty chemicals, opened the Asia Pacific Digital Marketplace Center in the Zhangjiang High Tech Park of Shanghai on Feb 7.

The company expects to improve its competitiveness in the Asia-Pacific region and develop better in the digital era with the launch of this new center.

The complex is comprised of Dow's global R&D center, global information technology support center, and Asia-Pacific headquarters, and is the company's largest and most advanced research institute outside the United States.

It focuses on the development of design thinking and agility, helps enterprises to think out of the box, and provides next-generation digital commercial solutions to improve clients' core competitiveness.

The center is a significant part of the "Digital Dow" strategy designed to enable Dow to set a new standard for how material science value chains operate and serve customers.

Jim McIlvenny, President of Dow Chemical Asia Pacific, explained, "Digital reform has the power to change the future business environment and operation efficiency. Dow is making investments in digitalization that will help us find new clients and facilitate growth of existing clients. Thus, we must be capable of knowing the market needs and coming up with related solutions faster than ever. And the center will be the platform to achieve this goal."

Jose Pina, chair of the Commercial Leadership Team and director of Business Development at Dow Chemical Asia Pacific, said that the new center will use global resources and local talents to create more value for its clients and partners in the Asia-Pacific region.
