Lushunkou district in Dalian, Liaoning province, received 183,000 tourists during the Spring Festival, with total revenue mounting to 2.46 million yuan ($388,600).
Rural tourism has become a new hotspot in recent years. More than 60 percent of visitors to Lushunkou this year chose countryside homestays, picking up fruit and relaxing in hot springs.
Cultural tourism also grew in the seven-day holiday. Sculpture and painting exhibitions were held to demonstrate Lushunkou’s last 100 years of development. Pottery workshops also provided opportunities for tourists to make their own ceramics.
More than 75 percent of travelers took self-driving trips rather than public transport.
During the holidays, the Lushunkou Tourism Administration tightened controls over local tourist markets to ensure safe and smooth travel experiences.
