Hohhot airport receives more tourists during Spring Festival

Hohhot Baita Airport received 179,000 tourists during the week-long Spring Festival holiday that ended on Feb 21, up by 41.9 percent year on year.

It handled 18,000 passengers on New Year's Eve, according to the statistics released by the airport.

A total of 1,626 flights departed from or arrived at the airport during the period, up by 21.7 percent.The cargo and mail turnover volume reached 88.7 metric tons.

During the holiday, trains in Hohhot carried nearly 512,000 passengers. Yet another peak is set to soon arise with people leaving their hometowns to work, and students going back to school.
