Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, received 2.609 million tourists from home and abroad during the Spring Festival holiday (Feb 15-21), marking an increase of 15.2 percent compared to the same period of last year, according to the city’s tourism department.
The total tourism revenue reached 2.09 billion yuan ($329.7 million), an increase of 16.3 percent compared to the same period in 2017.
Ice and snow tourism projects in Shenyang were popular, attracting a large number of tourists.
During the holiday, Qipanshan ski resort received an average of more than 20,000 tourists daily, up by 19.5 percent compared to the same period last year, and snow projects in Beiling Park attracted approximately 10,000 tourists daily.
The 39th Huangsi Temple Fair showed the rich intangible cultural heritage and folk cultural tourism resources in Shenyang, attracting more than 1 million tourists during the holiday.
Shenyang Palace Museum received an average of more than 10,000 tourists daily, an increase of 14 percent compared to the same period in 2017, and Marshal Zhang's Mansion received over 5,000 tourists daily, up by 26 percent.
