The VIP lounge for China Eastern Airlines in Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport was officially opened on Feb 7, allowing for better service to passengers during the Spring Festival travel rush.
The VIP lounge is located in Terminal 3 of the airport and covers an area of 700 square meters. It includes facilities for bathing, reading, internet surfing, infant care, and various activities for children.
The annual Spring Festival travel rush began on Feb 1 and will last until March 12. Approximately 2.98 billion trips by all transport means are expected to be made during the period.
China Eastern Airlines plans to operate 108,000 domestic and international flights capable of seating over 17 million people during the period, up 10.8 percent and 7.5 percent, respectively, from last year. Actual passenger traffic is expected to be about 14 million. A total of 434 domestic flights and six international flights to and from Guangdong province will be added by the airline to cope with the increased travel demands.
China Eastern Airlines predicts that airplane passenger traffic in Guangdong province will be heaviest from Feb 9 to 14, Feb 19 to 23, and March 3 to 4, after the Lantern Festival.
