The owner and operator of some of the world's major hotel chains contracted on Feb 6 to construct a first-class resort in Hengqin New Area.
Minor Hotel Group and Zhuhai Da Hengqin Pan-Tourism Development Co Ltd agreed to develop the M Collection Hotel on 57.8 hectares (143 acres) south of Hengqin Avenue and north of Da Hengqin Mt's Niujiaokeng Reservoir.
To become one of the few luxury resort-hotels in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao metropolitan area, it will have a hundred guestrooms, each designed to provide a personalized and high-end experience.
Minor Hotel Group has 157 properties under the St Regis, Anantara, AVANI, Oaks, Tivoli, Elewana Collection, Four Seasons, JW Marriott, Radisson Blu, and Minor International brands in 24 countries of the Asia-Pacific, Indian Ocean, European, and South American regions. It has two facilities in China: the Antara Sanya (Hainan) and Xishuangbanna (Yunnan) resorts.

Zhuhai Da Hengqin Pan-Tourism Development sees the overnight attraction as a spatial, ecological, cultural, and economic standout in the Greater Bay Area. An executive said its picturesque design will attract urbanites for a quick getaway. He added that it would boost Hengqin New Area's standing as an international leisure and tourist island due to top-level ecological leisure provided at the resort.

Nearby in Hengqin New Area, an elegant St Regis Hotel will open in Shizimen Business District on May 1, with rooms now being furnished and staff recruited. As Zhuhai's first international ultra-luxury hotel, it targets high-spending tourists within the Greater Bay Area and is to enhance the city's hospitality capacity and international influence.
