The expo is being held at the Seed and Breeding Industry Town of Nansha district and will last until March 3. It will give both locals and visitors a chance to take in the vibrant colors and smells of over 6 million flowers, including tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. As the largest tulip exhibition in Guangzhou's history, it's an absolute haven for flower lovers, offering a wealth of imported tulips, including 200 world-famous varieties as well as some extremely rare ones such as the Apollo Elite.

There are plenty of photo-ops and picturesque flourishes, such as windmills, set up around the fields, creating an ideal spot for shutterbugs and selfie-lovers alike.

A lady surnamed Lin from Tianhe district said she came with her husband early in the morning and was stunned to learn just how many varieties of tulips there are.

"There are so many fields dedicated to different kinds of flowers, no wonder Guangzhou is called the 'Flower City'," she said.

Tulips are the national flower of the Netherlands and Turkey and are generally seen as representing love, honor and luck. The color of the blossoms can vary from white, orange, or yellow to pink, red, or purple.
