Harbin Aircraft Industry Group Co (HAIG) delivered two Y-12E aircraft to Nepal on Feb 6. The aircraft will be used for domestic civil aviation transportation.

According to the delivery schedule, the aircraft will take off from Harbin in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, passing through Liaoning, Tianjin and Wuhan, before finally landing in Kunming in Southwest China’s Yunnan province, to await its departure from China. The entire journey will take approximately 10 days.

The Y-12E is a regional turboprop aircraft, one of five in the Y-12 series. The model was certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in December 2001.

The Y-12 series is the most popular civil aircraft series ever produced in China, and 200 of them have been sold in domestic and overseas markets.

The Y-12 can be configured to satisfy a range of different requirements due to its flexibility and high-performance functions. They can be used for passenger or cargo transportation, parachuting, seed or insecticide spraying, aerial photography, emergency rescue, maritime surveys and weather modification.

The aircraft has great advantage of operating in high altitude areas, which exactly satisfies the needs of Nepal, a plateau country.

Over the past 20 years, HAIG has delivered a total of 12 Y-12 series aircraft to Nepal.
