A children’s orchestra delivered a concert at the Ordos Grand Theater to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival, in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Feb 1.
The orchestra, named the Quyue Wind-Instruments Band, is the city’s first and only orchestra comprising solely of primary school students; who happen to all be studying at the Dongsheng No 12 Primary School.
In 2017, the young orchestra was honored with the title of a “model orchestra” for their outstanding performances, a title given to them by the Ordos Musician Association.
The orchestra won first prize during an art festival for students in middle and primary school in Inner Mongolia, which was held by the region’s education authority.
For the last two years, the orchestra has taken part in the annual international summer camp for orchestras held in Shanghai and received a number of positive and encouraging comments from both foreign and domestic musicians during the camp.
