Erdenet Copper Power Plant, constructed by Harbin Electric International Company Limited (HEI) and now the third largest power plant in Mongolia, recently completed its inspection and approval process.
HEI was awarded with the “2017 Mongolia National High-quality Project Certificate” by the government of Mongolia during a completion ceremony in Erdenet on Jan 22.
The Erdenet power plant project includes four 12 MW steam turbines, which were all developed and manufactured by HEI for a total price tag of $41.83 million dollars. It is HEI’s first project in Mongolia.
The power plant began construction in May 2016 and finished installation and system debugging in August 2017. All four power generators were successfully connected to the national grid by October and trial operations then commenced.
“The Erdenet power plant project is a joint venture between China and Mongolia. It plays an important role in promoting HEI’s brand in Mongolia,” said an HEI staff member.
