iHuman Research Center of ShanghaiTech University has made another breakthrough in the research of cell signaling transaction, according to a news report published on Pudong's website on Feb 2.
The discovery is great news for the university as iHuman research team is the first to disclose the structure of serotonin 2C receptor, which is related to the cause of physical problems such as obesity as well as mental disorders.
Besides, the big discovery is also helpful in disclosing the GPCR (Guanosine-binding Protein Coupled Receptor), which lays a solid foundation for the future research of cell signaling transduction.
What's more, the research product was also of international significance as it was also published on the Cell magazine, which remains at the forefront of exciting developments in biology, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer research and cell biology, continually redefining the important areas of science with cutting edge papers.
The iHuman research institute is China's high level research institute, which boasts numerous experts specializing in cell signaling transduction. The center is also open to other disciplines, allowing different disciplines to advance together.
