Hohhot airport is expected to see 65 million passenger trips during the upcoming Spring Festival travel rush, up by 10 percent from a year ago, reported North News.
This year's travel rush will begin on Feb 1, according to the airport.
New routes including Hohhot-Lianyungang-Nanjing, Hohhot-Lvliang-Chengdu, Hohhot-Hefei-Guilin, Hohhot-Nanchang-Jieyang will be added to meet the high demand during the travel rush.
Flights heading for Chifeng, Xiliinhot, Tongliao, Ereenhot and Manzhouli in Inner Mongolia will be increased.
The airport will also add more domestic flights to 21 cities like Guangzhou, Haikou, Zhenzhou, Yangzhou, Jinan and Shijiazhuang.
This year's Spring Festival holiday runs from Feb 15 to 21. Since this is the most valued festival in China, most people will return to their hometowns for family reunions. In recent years, people have also taken the long holiday as a chance to travel, pushing up demands for tickets.
