Zhuhai 'Made in China 2025' designs given support

The Zhuhai Center of China Good Design was established at the Tangjiawan campus of the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on Jan 25. Placed in the School of Design & Art Teaching Building, the center will use artistic resources to discover, cultivate, serve, and display Zhuhai's quality works of design.

China Good Design is supported by the Innovation Design Alliance of China and China Knowledge Center for Engineering Sciences & Technology of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Together, they are implementing the "Made in China 2025" strategy.

Held twice since 2015, awards presentations have been made for innovative designs. These include the CRH380A high-speed train, deep-sea manned Jiaolong submersible, and iFLYTEK intelligent voice service system. Meanwhile, hundreds of cases deemed typical or exemplary have also been recommended to the public.

The Zhuhai BIT center will enhance the design capacity of cities situated on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary while promoting industrial transformations and upgrades.

A spokesperson says it is vital that society pay attention to, respect, and support innovative designs.

Professor Zong Mingming, director of the center, said the operation will focus on livelihood and especially traditional Chinese culture. Furthermore, Zong added that competitions, exhibitions, international exchanges, and other activities will be held to boost the center's development.
