Extended Metro Line 2 to commence trial operations

The northern extension of Metro Line 2 in Shenyang will commence operations in early April.

The announcement was made at Shenyang Municipal People’s Congress held in Shenyang on Jan 22.

Lu Chunfeng, director general of Shenyang Municipal Metro Construction Office, revealed that the northern extension to the line started trial operations on Dec 5, 2017. During the three-month trial period, the high performance of the line qualified it for manned operations.

In addition, the extension plan for the southern section of Metro Line 2 will soon gain approval. When construction of the southern extension starts, a large metro train depot will also be built at the same time. It is expected that another 10 trains will be put into use on Line 2, shortening the train interval time to just 3 minutes.
