Work begins on large West Wing commercial center

Construction of Gaolan Port Economic Zone's largest commercial center commenced in Nanshui Town on Jan 24. By October, the first integrated commercial complex in Zhuhai's West Wing should be ready for retail stores, hotels, movie theaters, catering, leisure, and other facilities

Eight plants at the Nanshui New Countryside Industrial Demonstration Zone are being reconstituted to make room for the project. The site on West Nangang Road was chosen because it is easily accessible to residents up to 3 km away.

With an upfront investment of 80 million yuan ($12 million), the complex covers an area of more than 60,000 sq m.

Designer's expression of commercial center

The project is being jointly developed by Zhuhai Jindu Business Co, Zhuhai Sanchao Trading, and Zhuhai Demiao Commercial Service. The developers predict that the commercial center will create at least 3,000 jobs and generate 180 million yuan ($27 million) in annual turnover. They say the project represents advances in commercial development and cultural progression of the Gaolan Port Economic Zone.

Furthermore, the complex is expected to enhance the regional economy by improving support facilities and services, allowing more sustainable progressive development. The improvement of living quality in Gaolan will hopefully attract and persuade more talent to locate there, said a government official.
