Harbin Taiping International Airport is experiencing a spike in passenger numbers due to the 34th Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival unveiled on Jan 5.
Statistics released by Heilongjiang Airport Group reveal that Harbin airport handled 5,814 flights, and 812,000 passengers from Jan 1 to 15, representing a year-on-year increase of 9.7 percent and 16.1 percent respectively.
The average passenger flow at Harbin airport is around 54,000 tourists during the Jan 1 to 15 period. Passengers mostly arrive on flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Sichuan province, as well as Singapore and Thailand.
Meanwhile, the average passenger load factor has reached 90 percent.
