The West Coast New Area Green Manufacturing Innovation Center was unveiled recently in the Sino-German Eco-park in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, with an aim of promoting development of a regional intelligent manufacturing sector.
The center, highlighting green ecology and intelligent manufacturing, will bring together three to five state-level key laboratories and engineering research centers, a national incubation center and a state-level maker space, and obtain at least 500 invention patent licenses within its two-year construction period.

Based on the city's green manufacturing international innovation park and efforts to catch up to the next industrial revolution, the so-called Industry 4.0, the center was jointly set up by the Qingdao Siemens Innovation Center, the Haier Industrial Intelligent Industry Research Institute, the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (Qingdao Branch) and Qingdao Passive House Engineering and Technology Co.
The center will focus on ten fields including intelligent robots and human-machine cooperative manufacturing, industrial internet platforms, digital factories, and lean production. Its aim will be to build an innovation platform, promote research and development of new products, and lead in key technology development.
