Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region marked new progress in its rare earth industry with the output value of 27 businesses in the field reaching 8.47 billion yuan ($1.3 billion), according to local media.
The figure represented year-on-year growth of 47.9 percent.
As China's leading supplier of rare earths, Baotou city has long been committed to developing its rare earth industry with the Baotou Rare Earth Hi-Tech Zone serving as its base. There are a total of 106 Baotou-based companies engaged in the industry at present.
