China, South Korean enhance friendships through cultural ties

Cultural ties and friendships between China and South Korean have been enhanced with the Culture and Art Master Exchange Exhibition of Calligraphy and Painting Works getting underway in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province from Jan 10 to 14.

Changsha residents were lucky to have been offered a free access to various forms of art, including calligraphy works, traditional Chinese paintings, oil and rock paintings, showcasing great artistic achievements and different artistic styles of both countries.

The five-day exchange exhibition featured some 200 pieces of artworks created by 85 artists, where art masters depict their emotions and thoughts on nature and life with brushes. It provided Changsha residents an artistic feast.

Yan Fuchu, vice director of Hunan Provincial Department of Culture, pointed out in his opening speech that Chinese artist Qi Baishi is very popular and his works are well recognized among South Korean people.

Yan once led a group to organize an exhibition of artworks by Qi Baishi (1864-1957), who is known for the meticulously detailed paintings, in Seoul, South Korea, on July 31, 2017. 

"It perfectly explains that people from both countries share a lot in common in terms of arts," Yan said, adding that the people-to-people cultural exchange activity guided by governments means a lot.

Such kinds of exhibitions and exchanges are expected to not only enhance understanding between artists, but also deepen friendships between the two nations.
