Airbus China, located in the Tianjin Free Trade Zone, has signed a contract with the National Development and Reform Commission under which it is expected to increase the production of Airbus A320s to five every month from the beginning of 2019, and to six every month by the beginning of 2020.
The Airbus A320 Tianjin Assembly line was opened in 2008, and now produces four aircrafts per month.
In 2016, the assembly line was named an Airbus Asia Assembly Line serving China and the Asian-Pacific region.
In 2017, it started to produce A320 neo aircraft, the first of which was delivered to AirAsia in October.
