The first Huhtala Snow and Ice Tourism and Culture Festival will get underway in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Jan 16.
Huhtala means “green grassland” in Mongolian language. It is a grassland area located at Baoheshao town in Hohhot.
Themed “Sharing the ice and snow world, Creating beautiful grassland”, the festival will be organized by the government of Xincheng district. Covering an area of 500 mus (33.33 hectares), it will include activities like ice sculptures show, winter Nadam Fair, snow sculptures show and a food fair.
The town aims to present a visual feast for visitors and build itself as a cultural brand in Inner Mongolia so as to bolster tourism in the city.
According to the public transportation corporation in Hohhot, a special bus route will operate from Jan 16 till Mar 3 when the festival wraps up.
