Guiyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) has made great strides in the last year and is now setting its sights on 2018. It was ranked 41st among the 147 State-level high-tech zones by the Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, due to comprehensive improvements it made in the past year.

Total revenue from the manufacturing and service sectors in the zone are estimated to have reached 38.25 billion yuan ($5.85 billion) and 40.17 billion yuan, respectively, in 2017.
Revenue from big data and modern service sectors were 45.16 billion yuan and 36 billion yuan. The zone received new foreign investment totaling $184.2 million, and total foreign trade reached $114.6 million.
Guiyang HIDZ also introduced a number of new enterprises in an attempt to bolster the zone's economic output. Data shows that there are currently 15,350 registered companies and more than 4,000 big data related companies located in the zone.

When it comes to technology and innovation, Guiyang HIDZ boasts 155 R&D institutions, 12 of which are national-level. In the past year, 1,910 patent applications were processed in the zone, and it also boasts the first national-level big data business incubator.
Guiyang HIDZ devised a strategy of "sending out" and "bringing in". In 2017, the zone held a number of promotional activities overseas, facilitating agreements for 128 projects and receiving a total investment of 58.44 billion yuan.
With the arrival of the new year, Guiyang HIDZ plans to continue its focus on big data industry and increasing economic output. It aims to boost the total value of its large-scale industries to 4.4 billion yuan and increase industrial output to 33 billion yuan, and hopes to increase big data revenue to 58 billion yuan.
